Read the paragraphs and answer the questions.

(1) The good Lord was extremely busy that day. He was into his sixth day of overtime. When he was working with full concentration, an angel appeared and commented, "You are taking so much care for creating this creature."


1. Why was the Lord extremely busy? 

Ans. The Lord was extremely busy because he was creating a creature and was into the sixth day of overtime.


2. The angel commented that .....

Ans. The angel commented that the Lord was taking so much care for creating the creature.


(2) "That's true," said the Lord. "Do you want to know the details?"

"What are they?" the angel was curious.

"All her parts should be movable and replaceable too. She has a lap that disappears when she stands up. I have. to endow her with a kiss that can cure everything from a broken leg to a

broken heart. Moreover, she has to have six pairs of hands. She must be able to run on any food available and should have three pairs of eyes."


1. Who was curious to know the details?

 Ans. The angel was curious to know the details.


2. What does the Lord say about her parts?

Ans. The Lord says that all her parts

should be movable and replaceable.. 


3. She has a lap....

Ans. She has a lap that disappears when

she stands up.

4. What can her kiss do?

Ans. Her kiss can cure everything - from

a broken leg to a broken heart. 


5. How many hands and eyes should she have?

Ans. She should have six pairs of hands and three pairs of eyes.


(3) The angel shook his head slowly and said, "A mighty impossible task, I suppose. Six pairs of hands? No way!"

"No, these hands are not a problem for me. It is the three pairs of eyes that the mothers have to have." The Lord looked puzzled.

"Oh, so you are creating a standard model of a mother? But three pairs of eye? What for ?" the angel got interested.

"One pair that sees her children through closed doors. Another pair to look at the children and say, 'I understand and I love you.' without uttering a word. And the third pair to see all secret things without opening them."


1. What was a problem for the Lord?

Ans. Giving three pairs of eyes to the mother was a problem for the Lord. 

2. What was the Lord creating?

Ans. The Lord was creating a standard model of a mother.


3. What will the first pair of eyes do? 

Ans. The first pair of eyes will see the ya children through closed doors.


4. What will the second pair of eyes do? Ans. The second pair of eyes will look at the children and say I understand and love you' without uttering a word.


5. What will the third pair of eyes do?

Ans. The third pair of eyes will see all secret things without opening them. 


(4) "Lord!" requested the angel. "Please go

to bed, do not take so much trouble in a single day."

"I cannot," He refused, "I have almost completed the work. I have put the best of my ideas into this model. Now this mother will heal herself when she is sick. She would be able to feed a family of six members only on half a kilo of cabbage. And she would manage a child's bath, play, study, food and sleep without getting irritated."


1. What did the angel request the Lord? Ans. The angel requested the Lord to go to bed and not take so much trouble in one day.


2. Why did the Lord refuse to rest?

Ans. The Lord refused to rest because he had almost completed his work and had put the best of his ideas. into the model.


3. The mother will .............when she is

sick.

Ans. The mother will heal herself when

she is sick.


4. The mother would manage...... 

Ans. The mother would manage a child's bath, play, study, food and sleep without getting irritated.


5. The mother would be able to feed .... Ans. The mother would be able to feed a family of six members only on half a kilo of cabbage.


(5) The angel went round the model of the mother very slowly. He touched it and said, "It's too soft."

"But very tough," said the Lord excited. "You cannot imagine what this mother can do and endure."

"Can it think?"

"Not only can she think but can reason and compromise too," said the Lord. 


1. What did the angel feel about the

model of the mother? 

Ans. The angel felt that the mother was too soft.


2. Why did the Lord say that the mode of the mother was tough? 

Ans. The Lord said that the model of the

mother was rough because no one

could imagine what she can do and endure.


 3. The mother can not only think.....

Ans. The mother can not only think but can reason and compromise too.


(6) The angel was impressed. He went closer to the model and moved his finger across the cheek.

"Oh Lord, her eyes are leaking !"

"How did this happen? It must be a tear. I have not put it there. It is a miracle !" The Lord exclaimed.

"But, what is a tear for, my Lord?"

"It is something unique. May be it is for pain, for joy, pride, disappointment, loneliness," the Lord explained.

"What a wonderful creation!"

Ans. Tears may be for pain, joy, pride, disappointment or loneliness.


2. Why was the Lord surprised on seeing

tear ?

Ans. The Lord was surprised on seeing

a tear because He had not put it

and it was a miracle.
