His father Shri Vishwanath Dutt died in 1884, due to which the financial condition of the house had become very bad. Ramakrishna's mysterious personality impressed him, which changed his life. He made Ramakrishna his guru in 1881. After retiring, he was named VivekanandHearing the praise of Ramakrishna Paramhans, Narendra went to him with the idea of reasoning at first, but Paramhansji recognized on seeing that this is the same disciple whom he has been waiting for many days. By the grace of Paramhansji, he had self-realization, as a result, Narendra became prominent among the disciples of Paramhansji.
